[New] Focal Diva Utopia

I was surprised at first that Focal decided to release an active speaker in Utopia range but I think they are showcasing technology that is going to trickle down to other products. I think we’re seeing the start of Focal modernizing their products and it’s interesting to see what comes next.

I mentioned earlier the tweeter looks set back a little Draper possibly with a waveguide.
That's indeed a (yet not very noticeable) waveguide :

Finally active focal hifi speakers, but….

- Price is ridiculous high
- Focal seems to have no experience in dsp, as their studio monitors don’t have dsp on board
- Will it include room correction?
- Cats will love it
- Anyways, way out of my budget and I make >5.5k euro a month. It is sad to see that many manufacturers are aiming more and more on the very rich. Price increases are sometimes way above the level of inflation.

Then just buy the Trio 11 ;)

Maybe it's just me... when I look at them I think of a grey/black lighter or a vape. :D

Still, an interesting design, fairly smart looking. For the price tag, they would want to have perfect measurements though.

JSmith
I don't know who they're targeting with this model? but even with "perfect" measurements the price won't be justified.

I believe the target is the "progressives" in High End Audio. Those subjective audiophiles who are on the fence , and have started to look into "actives" ... A jab in their direction..

For less than that Focal asking price , 39,000, one could get the vastly superior (yes!)"pair of Genelec W371A + 8351, complete with GLM for about $27,000.oo.

Peace.

don't worry, it looks like garbage already!
Well, I beg to differ big time. But let's say that aesthetics are 100% a subjective thing. ;)

You nailed it !

Which is certainly not that domestic friendly (both look and usability).
BTW, I gave to this particular set-up a listen while in vacation this summer (demoed both in stereo and Atmos) in a treated room + GLM roomEQ, all drived by the Gen 9320A. I sure liked it but was far from mind-blowed either.

It's like an expensive doll but who wants a luxury toy dressed in felt? I hope Focal has bolder options, like furs, red velvet or black latex for trasgressive listenings

I think most here miss the point of these speakers. There isn’t a target audience although people will buy them. Products like these are purely for brand marketing, to get Focal attention and people talking about them. A lot of negative comments here but the old saying stands true, ALL publicity is good publicity.

The chance of this being correct is probably 0

That could be a thing... But it's absolutely not the case here. I think that you underestimate Focal revenues regarding their higher end products (both Utopia & Sopra series in particular). Up to 80% of their income is from exportation (sales outside France), and these 80% are mostly done with their most expensive products.
