Another silver Yamaha amp, or rather receiver. These can be had for just 200€ sometimes.

The design is very Yamaha. I think they did everything right with this device and i really hope they stick to it in the future.

This one is the R-S700, it has the same power amplifier section as the A-S700, A-S701 and A-S801. But on top it has a rec selector and preamp and poweramp can be split. This is a welcome feature if you want to loop in a MiniDSP or other EQ. None of the A-S has pre-out/main-in, not even the A-S1200 (it's there, but you can not loop in a MiniDSP). Also, the remote has a learning feature and can switch channels on my Phillips TV.

So, if you want a cheap and very good looking, beefy and fully featured preamp, poweramp or integrated amp, this is the sweet spot right now.

Excuse the Kraftwerk CD. It's just good tunes.

Yes the stuff from late '70s still sounds and looks great with those silver face plate, also.

Sadyl, those go for a lot more than 200€ now, unless you know how to repair a broken one (usually, replace the caps, relays, potis and set the bias).

The R-S700 isn't that old and should be good for another 10 years or so without maintenance.

I agree the prices have gone up. My Dads 1979 Cr-240 is still going strong at my sons apartment.
