Lifelong desire to own these for HT
These are the original series and I also have a room full of other M&K speakers. I am running the 150’s as LCR and the 750 thx as height and rear speakers and 55 tripoles as side surround
4 M&K V1250’s subs in each corner
All bought used in original condition
Powered by Denon x3800H with LCR going through Emotiva A3 BasX amp
I first had the 750’s set as LCR and loved the detail in sound but had a chance to buy the 150’s for $900 as a set and jumped on it
Fuller sound but I seem to be missing the fiber details in movies that I got from the 750’s, at least as I remember
In softer films, it sounds great but in louder, peak explosions etc, I believe they are more muffled than the 750’s but do have a more powerful feel
I understand the 750’s are very close to the 150’s but I’m torn between the two as they are still a bit different
What would be a test I could do simply at home to check the 150’s to see if they have distortion without taking them to the shop?
I ran audyssey from Denon
Last question, I’m in Tacoma area of WA state, can anyone suggest a good repair shop for them in case I want to have them tested?
I use John at NW Audio who was a legend but now at 85 years old, I need to find another audio repair shop as I collect vintage hifi
Thanks for any help as I am a collector for over 40 years but I lack the knowledge I find here to work on my own gear and just have a basic understanding but a good ear
Side note, this is a great forum for info and has helped many people over the years, I’m one so thank you again!
PS, if I can drive my gear up to donate for testing since Amir is in Seattle, I have some interesting pieces to test
