Hi I'm looking for my studio large monitors
---
8 meters long
About 5 meters wide
--
The studio will be built with professional acoustics

What is recommended?
I currently have kali audio in 8 v2
I'm pretty happy with them plus arc

Should I just add a kali sub?
Or change to other, larger monitors?

Is this a control room, or a listening room? That world of monitors are nearfield. Is your use, near-, mid-, or far field? Budget. Desired listening level and type of music?

It's one big room
which consists of both control and recording
In front is the control
with acoustics

The back is for recording

That sounds like a nice big room with possibilities.

For nearfield, 2-4 feet from your ears, the Kali should be fine with a sub.

For farfields, I would go to the ASR review index, select speakers, select to show all pages and sort for sensitivity. The go down the first however many that are recommended and studio monitor / tower. Then read the reports. You can see reports at Erin's Audio Corner and read them on spinorama.org. Many some consumer speakers are monitor-like. There are about a dozen professional brands you can find on Sweetwater, Vintage King, and online retailers. You might enjoy the homebuilt-now manufactured MUM monitor videos. You could go down the DIY route too.

JBL is a company to look for far fields. I think the Kali designer came from JBL.If you monitor loud, you need either big speakers or have to be close to them.

Easy answer

You might like em more than the Kali.
You're welcome.

What’s your budget? You have stuff like Meyer Sound Bluehorns and Genelec 8381 when the sky is the limit, but the JBL M2 is also a great choice.

If you rent your studio, certain in-fashion monitors can be in your budget.

Genelec 8381
Looks like a dream.
At the moment the budget does not allow me.
Right now of all the options
I might stay with kali plus SUB

What is your budget? I'll tailor recommendations based on that.

Also - it's rare that control rooms and live rooms share similar desired acoustics, so keep that in mind. It might be worth splitting that space.

Yes this space is split
openly without separation

The back part is more breathable with less acoustics to get a wet sound for recording instruments

Only where I sit is there serious acoustic treatment for the listening environment

The budget is about 2000-3000 dollars

Also monitors for far hearing field
Maybe that's not an option
Because where I sit it should be a close - medium hearing field

Could do with a bit more info about the application.

- Is this for impressing musicians, or for you to mix on? Both?
- What frequency range do you need to cover?
- Are there any size limits?
- What's the budget?

Chris
