Well the R5 meta have an almost irrelevant base extension increase over the R3 meta (check Erin's data), the up-sell then is landing to the R7 metas... That's why I'm waiting for measurements of Q meta towers

The directivity on the R5 is a little better (how much it matters is another question), is a bit more sensitive, and does much better in compression. So while it might not play deeper, it seems to handle the same bass frequencies better.

Plus you don't need to buy stands, so the price difference is in the end not that great. Of course, the last part is subjective value as some people might have stands already or furniture they want to put them on, or just prefer bookshelf speakers. But if wanting to put the R3 on stands, you probably end up with a smaller footprint with the R5 if that matters.

I'm thinking about upgrading my fronts with some KEFs. Seeing the white paper, I trust KEF did similarly awesome job with the Q6 as they did with the Concerto.

Initially I thought about doing Concertos with the Q6. But what about doing full front end with the Q6's with them being vertical for left and right and horizontal for the center? I guess there are some advantages with matching the LCR but does the different orientation diminish that advantage?

I don't think it matters for kef because their horizontal and vertical are often nearly the same because of the coaxial. I could be completely wrong however.

I'd go for a pair of towers and no center channel. Concentric will give you very good stereo imaging, so much to forget the need of a center channel. Base extension and dynamics will be on another level, you'll enjoy movies a lot

Good imaging for the primary listening position centered on the screen. Anyone else in the room would benefit greatly from a center channel putting dialog in the correct location.

First impressions from people are that the Concerto is brighter than the R3. A deal breaker for me. The R3 is bright enough already. Not to the point of being bothering, but almost getting to that point. A speaker any brighter than that would be too bright. I'll wait for the charts and especially a review from Amir, but it seems that the Wharfedale Evo 4.2 would be a much better choice, easy on the ears.

Yes, when you point the R3(meta)'s at your ears. You can make them less bright/neutral[/sweet(?)] by toeing them out and at the same time get more side wall reflections. This has a smaller effect on the Concerto's tonality, because their near constant directivity, but it looks like they are not 'bright in room', but quite neutral, and that for a relative broad 'sweet area' - with small differences between left and right speaker.

I've seen both charts, the Concerto indeed seems one to two dB less bright, but I'm waiting for Amir's. One chart has "in room" and "in room 30 degrees". The other has "in room 10 degrees and "in room 0 degrees". The one without the degrees specified I think it's also 0 degrees but I'm not sure. I hate it when measurements are not completely identical for an easier comparison. Also, I only use internet charts to compare speakers only if it's the same source, using different sources would be useless, they don't mean anything. Sometimes even charts from the same source can be difficult to interpret so as you can make a correct decision.
Something else I've noticed, almost all KEF models have a 2dB depression in the 1kHz area. I like that area a lot, usually I like it 1-2dB bumped up.

You can use measurements to identify faults with a speaker. Little else. The Wharfedales and both the R3 and Q Concerto all have good objective performance - go and listen to them before making a buying decision.

I don't quite understand this,with the data the Erin has provided,and KEF has provided with the white papers,I don't see what there is to wait for. Just buy them and listen to them already. I'm not sure what Amir can objectively provide that they haven't already.
