This is my favorite movie of all time and I want the best possible recording of the soundtrack with the most number of tracks. I don't know why I never got around to buying the soundtrack.

The regular CD version has terrible reviews because apparently it doesn't have what the movie has. The HDTracks version's DR is the same as the CD version accornding to the DR database, so I am guessing it might be an upsampled version. I am reading that the Illuminated Star Projection Edition is the best in terms of being the most comprehensive (includes the docking scene) but I can't find it for sale in the US - this was a limited edition for some reason. Amazon has it listed for $600 or so which is ridiculous. Then there us the Deluxe version which seems somewhere in between.

So where can I the proper soundtrack and hopefully a decent recording?

Thanks!

Spotify has a 96 minute 24 track version, to listen to, at least...

Then there's this with 54 tracks: http://download-soundtracks.com/movie_soundtracks/interstellar-soundtrack-complete-by-hans-zimmer/

o they include the 15.7 khz annoying tone on these versions?
Don't know but 15.7 kHz is the horizontal scan rate of an analog TV! Likely they had one on the set and it bled into the recordings. And the old fart doing the mixing and recording couldn't hear it. :)

Is it fair to assume that some engineer in the production chain should, at least out of curiosity, run a spectrum analyzer on the tracks they produce? I sampled 4 different tracks and they all have it.

The engineers should definitely have looked at the spectrum. Strange that this got through on a major release like this.

I can still hear 15.7 kHz but only down to maybe -30 dBFS at normal volume. So you could say my built-in eq takes care of the issue ;-)
