Hi! Do you suggest the Denon AVR-S970H vs. Denon AVR-1800H vs. something else?

I'm upgrading from the Denon AVR-2112CI because I got a new Samsung SD90 OLED and I'm really torn between these two receivers. The big positive I'd like for the Denon AVR-S970H is it has the extra wattage to fill my speakers (90w per channel 500 W total):

My speakers are: BIC America's
Acoustec PL-200 sub (1000W)
Acoustec PL-89 (250 Watts each)
Acoustec PL-66 (175 Watts each)

But the 1800H has the better Audyssey with the MultEQ® XT. However it only has 80w per channel. I have a medium sized living room so maybe I wouldn't need the extra wattage. I'm not sure if there are other features the 1800H has that would make it a better buy or not. Or is there an even better option under $600 sale prices this week that I'm not considering?

You wouldn't hear the difference in power. It's too small for human ears to distinguish. They're both decent choices, but personally I'd take the better Audyssey room correction (if you're going to use it; lots of audiophiles never try it because EQ is evil).

Are you expanding/replacing the speakers? Why change if not? The wattage difference is minimal as mentioned, will not make much difference. The better Audyssey is okay, but XT32 is better but at least you get the use of the editor app for flexibility.

I'm not changing my speakers. I'm swapping out my receiver to work with my new Samsung OLED tv. My current receiver is the Denon AVR-2112CI. My current receiver doesn't support all the new formats offered by the new tv.

In what particular way? Yes, I saw you had the 2112 but not sure why you need to change avr for your speaker setup.

To accommodate my new tv.
There are ways to still use the current avr, but depends on particulars. Something like a bluray player with dual outputs so the tv gets newer picture codecs but still feeds an adequate audio signal to your avr....

I was going to suggest using the TV as the video switcher, but it looks like the old AVR you have only supports ARC which is lossy at best.

The old receiver is probably missing some surround sound formats also, and there were issues in that era with decoding Dolby Digital plus, which is used by most streaming services.

Either of your choices will work well and simplify your life.
