Good AVR for listening to music in stereo?

Dear all,

I am looking to buy AVR for music at home, due to the fact that my wife loves watchin movies, and I cant afford to buy both.
Which AVR will be as maximum losure to a good AMP for music listening in stereo, or 2.1 ?
Budget depends a lot, I can pay less and also more, depends if it deserve the money! But lets say some - 1500 - 3000 USD price range.
Any specific model, and how do you decribe them , compared to the good AMP's?

Just stick with 2.0 for the TV or 2.1 if you must. Run optical cable from TV to DAC or use HDMI if your system is capable.

Eventually you'll need to replace the AVR due to technology advancements and it won't be worth anything. Tell your wife that.
