As per the title, for the last week or so it seems posting an animated gif is broken.

I think it started when the email issue happened @amirm, however I thought best not to mention it until that was resolved.

For example, when I post the below gif's, they only attach as still images;

Share link;

The direct browser URL shows up as an animated gif for me here, but unsure if that is browser cache or not;

It doesn't seem to matter whether the image is right click/copied from Google images or direct from the host site. I have tried different browsers and devices etc.

Not a deal breaker, but thought it was worth pointing out as it was not like this before.

Chrome/Edge/FF or other, Win or Mac OS? PC or mobile device? There was a recent Win update actually. Thanks for checking anyway.
Chrome 126.0.6478.127

Windows 10 Home 22H2

Still not working for me, office or home... Edge or Chrome.

Anyone else unable?

I did upgrade to a new release of our platform at that time. That could have changed the behavior. Searching for this problem, I found references to cutting and pasting not working. If you save the file locally and then pull them into your post, that is supposed to work.

That said, animated gifs are massive in size. We are almost out of storage again so I need to go to a larger server with higher monthly costs. So if at all possible, please link to the animated GIF rather than trying to host them here.

Yes seems to have for me. I've seen a few members post an image that looked like it was meant to be a GIF as well, based on their post.

Ok, that's working as below;

Usually a right click>copy>paste does the job which usually seems to hotlink to the host site, rather than saving and attaching a file.

Opening up the site and finding the direct link for the GIF seems to work for some sites, but mostly not;

Thanks for looking into it.

Can you break it again?

Can you break it again?
Seems quite negative... especially when it is a commonly used function;

Often flashy gobs of unrelated imagery potentially better articulated by the dying act of coherently writing a sentence. Yet my ex wife and kids seem to love them too...

That would store the file locally on the forum. To get a link, you have to right clip and "copy link."

Yep, but doing that from Google images doesn't work and as mentioned the direct link from the hosting site seems to work sometimes, mostly not. Would be great if things could be restored to the prior functionality, but if not I'll just have to save the image on the odd occasion and attach it as a file.

I don't think he meant movies.

Haha, I wouldn't mind a function/setting that automatically adds anyone posting animated gifs to my ignore list ... no offence of course, but they are an abomination :)

If you see my earlier post above with the links to ASR posts with GIF's, you would never see another review or any mod posts! :p
