Notification about “External YouTube Video Link Dropping”

If one is taking the effort to post hundreds of songs, then the least they can do is to name the song and performer. That takes about as much effort as posting the song in the first place.
Not going to happen as a rule. If I have extra time, energy and feel like it I'll do it but otherwise, no.

Yes, but the transcript could go behind the spoiler tag, and FWIW I find the Youtube AI-generated transcripts to be adequate for the purposes of commentary. Either way I'm just looking for someone to save me from watching long-ass Youtube videos that take 15 minutes to get to their 30-second kernel of a point. :)
Transcripts are good. I participate on another site where they don't post a video without one. (Highly literate people.) But if a YT has a transcript it should be available only a couple of clicks away. Copy-pasting it to a spoiler block brings it slightly closer.

Idk who owns transcripts. I'd guess that if YT generated it from the audio then Alphabet would claim it as a proprietary work product. But Idk. I'm

I guess that’s clearly over our heads here…
Well, what I mean, the kind of people who write well crafted paragraphs to complain at being asked to glean information from talking heads in a yt. Old people who prefer the old-fashioned ways, ... you know: text. I'm not sure the crowd here is much younger but it's much more tech friendly, ... you know: memes.

This can be achieved without going overboard. For instance, wanting it for music videos seems a bit odd. Additionally, transcripts will, in many cases, likely result in a massive wall of AI-generated text that could come across as spammy, in my opinion.
It’s best to leave the responsibility to the individual posting the video to describe it in a way that fits the context of the comment or the thread’s theme, rather than enforcing a specific format like transcripts.

I have actually modified it. :) I have changed it so it spans the full window. Otherwise it is hard coded to be a small/fixed size. The smaller size also forces lower data rate at times.
well maybe you can leave the edit open so anyone can change the past posts , otherwise this new world order you have , meowwww , keep the edit feature so anyone can change their mind , most here are drunk people , so the edit must be open to alter a post even if its few years old

The only thread I can see it in is the what are you listening to/watching at the moment type threads. When it is supposed to propose something specific I'd just prefer to have a summary of proposition and how the video deals with it. Not everyone can watch the same video with the same conclusion in any case.

Not only that, but I see many new members as being .... ahem .... lazy. If we would write a synopsis about the references we post, I'm pretty sure (being the pessimist that I am) that the paper or video would never be viewed ... only the synopsis.

If someone is interested enough (and assiduous enough) to investigate the material we post, then a simple preface will suffice.
If they're NOT interested enough, a damn pamphlet with bullet points, animations and condensations will be ignored. :(
After all, you can lead a horse to water, but ... yada, yada ...

Does heavily stoned count ?
Likely to result in less belligerence? I'll confess to being inexperienced so can't really say. :p

"Home work, I'm supposed to do my own homework?"
I know exactly how them dice roll. I put up for years on my Linux site with members that didn't seem to know the "Search" button
even existed, let alone how to use it.

Sure, we had a President here some years back that claimed the same.
"I tried it, but never inhaled" LOL

Haha! :p
That’s hilarious.

I also agree with you -not that I think most people here are drunk -but editing old comments should definitely be possible.

but editing old comments should definitely be possible
Forum donors get an extended period compared to other members.

It's best there be a limit, as when things go bad with a member... sometimes they log in and deface the forum by editing all their posts and deleting threads they started.
