One of my USB inputs is a Blusound Node which gives me HDMI, Bluetooth, Airplay2, optical or analog in.

This was also recommended to me. It's very compact and looks a bit nicer (my taste) than the Yamaha. But as the unit sits right in from of me on the desk and I only need optical and bluetooth I decided "pro knob".

... So you can’t have both.

That's a common thing sadly. And as soon as you want to connect active speakers via digital input there are not that many options to choose from for a start.
