Kat Edmonson, she's been around a while now, from Texas and now lives in New York. She has some original music and covers other songs. From an interview with her "Many artists bristle at the prospect of being categorized. Aware of the unique position she occupies in today’s popular music landscape, Edmonson has no qualms about labels. She willingly describes her music as vintage pop."

This is what I hope to be one of a new of super valuable music threads where we highlight music that is exceptionally recorded and is a joy to listen to.

Next year makes 30 years since I was introduced to this recording during my music studies in university. There is no other recording of this piece that can match what Dawn Upshaw, David Zinman, and the London Sinfonietta produced.

The Ladies of the Roach Motel cover "Helplessly Hoping" by CSNY.

A few that I like, I like many styles of music soo melomaniac an eclectic choices :rolleyes::

A pure beauty one... (sometimes I can't understand why some singers are unknown...)

Ghostly Kisses - Touch (Acoustic)

From this year... (the best song from the album and the better recorded too)

Maggie Lindemann - Love Songs

A funny one...

Elsa Brigitta Bekman - You're not my favourite sandwich

If you like it ask me for more... ;)
A new concert by Ghostly Kisses - Live at Le Grand Salon, Quebec City.

These three ladies (Roach Motel) are quite flat, at least to my ear. Check out 'Foxes and Fossils' who are turning out some great covers of 60s material on a regular basis including CSN material.

I need to catch up with her more recent recordings. I have the Gorecki, but I really liked her Golijov recordings. Here is a sample.

She also appears on a superb recording of John Adams' El Nino that I own.

Agreed. I think part of what I appreciate about her is the attention to detail she brings to her singing.
