Hi
I took down my old EV pa speakers from the attic, hoping to find evm 12L woofers. They are supposed to sound fantastic in guitar amps.

They are unlabeled, but have a code, that I have been trying to decipher.

Some people seem to believe, that 812 is code for EVM 12 L, but others believe it´s just the ohms and size of the speaker. The basket of the speaker look exactly like the real deal, and the magnet size as well.

Does anyone know how to read the codes. Model number, maybe even date of production?

Kind regards, Kasper

The magnet assembly looks like it’s the real deal:

How about the basket? It’s hard to see from the picture, but it seems to also match.

Having said that, you don’t know if the voice coil or suspension are the same. It could be an OEM driver using roughly the same components, but it could still be a different driver.
