Underrated classic:

The drive, the vibe, the energy. Superb. I'm still regarding it as their best album anyway. With Invaders Must Die a close second.

How about something fun?

Always like the warmth dnb provides.
I know, right? It's almost like we as the human collective went through all the pains of civilisation and industrialisation and technological invention, only to enable our artists to create pieces of music, really just organised sound, to appeal to and satisfy our most primal instincts.

In the darkest night, light a huge fire to scare away the predators and demons that lure in the dark, play the flute, hit the big drums, and dance the fear away.

Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - Scorpio

Top tune.
One of my favourite live bands (ever) is Tackhead. They were the NY based session musicians for Sugarhill Records who played on this, plus a huge selection of the best OG NY hip hop from the late 70's and 80s .
They then hooked up with London based dub producer Adrian Sherwood in the mid 80s to form Tackhead. Proper funk with live dub mix from Sherwood on the desk/faders (think updated dubbed out Funkadelic). 80s/90s Retrofunk.
