does anyone listen to Taylor Swift? tell me what the draw is

BTW, if there was any doubt she's using Autotune:

This video is so much more about whether she uses autotune or not. It is a FANTASTIC video about autotune in general and how it robs singers of expression. It will teach you how to listen for it, as well as all the other mixing engineer tricks. Highly recommended that everyone watches it.

what has this thread turned to?
people (mostly males?) bashing TS's music, claiming she is not that talented/her songs are not that good/she can't play instruments?
seriously?
I know. And it started as an interesting sociological and psychological MBA case study on the astonishing appeal of the Swift.

And the question of who has more talent, skill, etc. omig what a drag. Maybe next we can use that to finally settle the "who's better" between the Sex Pistols and Boney M.

As we are dominantly grown up men, I expected we treat this as gentlemen than rashly, envious boys.
TS is extremely successful, both commercially and critically, for more than a decade, and for that, she is both very talented, very lucky , and has worked very hard for it. She's rare combination - sure there are others who sing better than her, compose better than her, dance better than her, or (arguably) better looking that her, but none has all of that, and none trained so hard that can perform 4 nights in a row (~40 songs live no less) without drugs. If anything she deserves what she got than anyone else.
It's fine to not like her music, or even her as a person, but be courteous and fair in your judgement.

So because I have an opinion about Taylor Swift, I'm a character in a John Kennedy Toole book or a Simpson's episode? What next, someone wanna give me an "Ok, Boomer"?

So tell me, what do you young ladies like about Taylor Swift.
I've less than ZERO interest in her music.
I've never heard one song from her that I'd want to play again.
I'm a big country music fan, that's all I listen to in my truck, and hated her time in the spotlight there. :(
I've no understanding of her crazy popularity?

Good thread, older white guys yelling at Taylor Swift to get off their lawn.

It seems to fit the general audiophile vibe: if it is something that isn't your own personal favorite, denigrate it.
@Anton D FTW!!!!!!

So the entire Queen back catalogue is
To be purchased for $1B. How does that $$ value stack up against TS ;)

you understand the difference right? Sony bought the music catalogue so they own it and can do whatever with it as they please (including selling it again)
TS still owns most of her music (especially with the recent re-recording "Taylor version" albums"). She's made money from selling (the right to listen to) her music, and touring alone. (And that makes her billionaire status special - she does not have any other ventures that are outside music. Look at Kanye West, he's once valued at $2.3B but now merely $400M when his brands tanked).

Once when she is old and retired, she can sell her catalog for a big pile of money. Or leave it to her estate so her heirs can continue making (likely big) money from it.
By any standards, TS is extremely successful. We don't need to devalue her to feel better about ourselves. If you don't like her music, it's fine, let's move on. there are better things to do

There are many reasons over the history of pop/rock that has guided many singers success.
A big part of which has always been in their looks.
A big part of which seems reversely keyed to their talent. LOL

Lemmy is perfect. I love him, but, boy, was he fugly!

Luckily, people with less than zero interest are interested enough to post about their less than zero interest.

I'd say more like a character in a David Foster Wallace book.

Continue, gentlemen.
