I guess some people like his style. However, I once viewed one of his videos in which he described the usage of a LPS as making some device sound more "squishy", and I wanted to slap him for it...

It seems there are lots of reviewers on the net. Do they make money from this, or is it just vanity?

Many have quit their day job and this is their main source of income. Darko is one.

To me, that is the problem. We have people with the perfect skill set for being top notch salespeople working as 'reviewers' on youtube. They are personable, natural and seem sincere.

And they can only survive by reviewing a lot of products and the only way to get a lot of products sent to them is to do good reviews that increase sales of those products. And as a bonus some of the review products they get to keep or pay a fraction of retail price for when the review is done.

If a salesperson walked up to people in a store many people's defenses would be up a bit; they'd take what they were being told with a grain of salt. But on youtube these people are our friends, we interact with them, we trust them. They are just sharing their discovery with us.
