Hi guys, I'm currently using a 5 meter 3.5mm male to 3.5mm female extension cable for my headphones. This works fine, obviously, but goes straight from my amp under a rug (+temporary toddler gym), then under my coffee table to my listening position. There are a few gaps where the cable is visible and, more importantly, can be tugged/chewed by toddlers. So I'd like to get a cable which will go out of the back of my AV cabinet and along the side wall and then arrive behind my sofa, so as to be more or less invisible.
My question is, do I need to be concerned about using a minimum AWG or is this distance not really worth worrying about?
I will be likely getting the cable custom made and can therefore realistically use any AWG, length etc. will likely use canare cabling and should be able to get cable + terminations at cost price.
Any advice would be most welcome.

It will depend on the impedance of your headphones. IMHO the cable round trip resistance should be below 1/20 of the headphone impedance.

For example, if your headphones are 24 ohms, you want the cable resistance to be less than 1.2 ohm. A 15 m distance is about 100 ft round trip. From the table below, you'd want 20 or lower AWG.
