Are there any headphones with a "normal" length cable?

So I own a HD650 and a Sundara and they each have different but equally annoying cables. The HD650's cable is so long it could be used as cordage for a 17th century Spanish galleon. After a day's use the cable has become a rat's nest that has managed to ensnare my mouse, keyboard, amp, monitors, office chair, pets, and any small children that may have wandered into my office throughout the day.

Contrast this with the Sundara which gives me about 4 planck lengths of cable to work with. Unless I have my amp taped directly to my forehead, I'm at risk of serious neck injury if my move my head more than 5 degrees in any direction.

So my question is, are there any good headphones that have, you know, a normal length cable? Or are all headphone makers just trolling us with these ridiculous cables?

Define "normal length". There is a great choice of aftermarket cables for your headphones. Also, both my HD6XX and Shure SRH1540 ship with 1.8 m cables.

I am not up to speed on what cable length you need. I have a 3m Sennheiser single cable and it's dead silent and the length and anti-knotting feature is excellent. What is a good length for you?

I use a 10 foot extension on my HD650 stock cable to make it "long enough".

Plugged in at the rack on the other side of the room, listened to at the desk behind the couch.

If I'm not using the speakers.

This is like asking ‘how long is a piece of string?’.

Can you define ‘normal’?

Re-cable the terminal plug sector according to one's desired length for one's desirable headphone set. Stock cables are not sacred objects.

3m ~ rope for spanish galleon, dangerous to surrounding objects
1.5m ~ 4 planck lengths, dangerous to neck

hmm...

I guess you're looking for 2m or 2.5m then... here's an option. ;)

Yes, some headphone manufacturers seem to be trolling us with overly long cables. But the good news is that you can find headphones with more convenient cables, or buy replacement cables to better adapt your setup to your needs. Headphones like the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO, Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, or even models from Sennheiser and Focal offer solutions that are more suited to setups where you don’t want a giant cable getting tangled everywhere.
