My new drivers

I think compression drivers will eventualy become the standard. all disadvantages can nowadays be cured with DSP

I allready made the step, and even though mine is not as high-tech as the one in the video, I wont go back to dome. everyday I hear something from those speakers that just makes me think "I dind't know this could come out of a speaker". sometimes a song has a mechanical sounding percussive instrument and for a second I get worried the speaker is broken, only to realize it's in the recording. I heard the shuttle launch recording from that Destin guy on Youtube and those cracking sounds the shuttle makes where so powerfull I again was afraid the speaker would break, only to realize that it is totaly fine reporducing this. a dome speaker feels like a 1 liter car now. most of the time it get's the job done, but sometimes you just feel it's limit

A bunch of waveguides, tested. Surprisingly few are good.

Would you look at that. That was interesting.:)

This combination, if one finds a suitable bass element, could perhaps be something:

Maybe together with this 8 inch bass driver, which is used in this kit:

Edit:
But on the other hand if the crossover was is at 2kHz why, when you can buy this for $23?

Just to show different options. Or if you have access to a 3 d printer, print a wavegudie and assemble it with:

several show narrowing between 1-2khz. yet he chose to measure with one compression driver only. yes the driver can effect the waveguide.

from a different site. same dayton h6512 with selenium d220ti:

with b&c de250 (more smoothing)

JBL's HDI series is one the most afordable ranges of domestic speakers with a compression driver.
The driver is not particularly stellar performer, since it starts to break-up massively before it's reached the top of the audio band and produces a bit too much distortion above 10kHz.
not sure where you get this data? subjectively I didn't hear that myself. actually that is one of the strengths for HDI to go out louder than other tweeters and doesn't suffer from sound compression etc... Just curious!

Is there distortion data in those charts? I’m not able to find it.
Also, how important is distortion above 10k? The first harmonic is at 20k, and goes up from there. I don’t think I could hear it.

The plots above show distortion in the frequency domain and in the time domain.

Also used in SCL
In conservative terminology, it's more of a tweeter than a driver. For such a small thing, I would like to see a high-frequency peak out of the audible range; but it may be not critical for real listening.

You can’t get constant directivity full range with a 2-way speaker, unless you are looking at omni dispersion.
For constant narrow using compression drivers on horns you are looking at 4-way minimum.
Please, could you cite a real-life example?

how much sense makes it to have constant directivity below Schroeder? it's the midrange where all those crazy tiny cancelations apear on the unsmoothed graph

The Avantgarde Uno/Duo measurements below and on Stereophile show why so many ways are needed:

Hi Tuga, I am delving heavily into a narrow directivity horn loudspeaker design. Could I ask you some questions? And if so, which platform do you prefer? (I noticed I couldn't send you a pm)
