Heard good things from Nyal about Alcons. It was a busy suite when I went there and didn't get a chance to hear anything:

Paradigm was there in a very large suite showing their reference speakers:

This is the best I have heard them sound. Large rooms really help with bass reproduction. Was interesting to see them NOT use their sister Anthem amplifiers this time.

One of the most impressive things at CEDIA 2016 was seeing the Sony's recently announced Z series LCD TVs. They had claimed that they would outperform OLED which to me was an outrageous claim. But they mostly delivered! Instead of turning backlight in large blocks or zones, they turn individual LEDs on and off. While not the same granularity of OLED which is down to a single pixel, these sets managed to sharply reduce the artifacts of LCD backlights. The net outcome was super contrasty and bright images. Very well done. I would use them in brighter rooms instead of OLED.

The last picture above shows what I explained.

Their projector demo rooms always have long lines so I did not bother to see them:

Another product useful for CI industry was this from Mid Atlantic which is known for their racks:

CEDIA2016-6517.jpg

It is a single box that replaces a bunch of wall wart power supplies that come with routers, cable boxes, etc. They are expensive but seem well built and great way to get rid of the clutter and unreliability of all of these external adapters.

They also had IP addressable power strips which while not knew, seemed like a nice implementation:

See the nice visual UI for controlling them.

Liked this light-weight rack to hold light-weight equipment:

One of the highlights of CEDIA 2016 for me was seeing JVC's new 4K, laser projector, the DLA-RS4500. I was not a fan of their previous "e-shift" pseudo technologies. They would always look awful shown on high-gain screens at shows. Not this time. The lasers gave it the light power it needed to light up the screen and pitch black levels provided gorgeous images. $30K pricing is not bad either.

It is big but not a monster.

Cool laser security product. It was a scanned unit acting kind of like what radar would do. It could detect people moving which can then be used to instruct the camera to record the images. Had pretty high precision. Expensive though at $4,000.

Was that a John Atkinson Impersonator above?

Good pictures, doesn't have the dreary atmosphere of the hotel roomed-and-doomed high-end show previously visited..

I'm a sucker for a good amplifier, too (SAE).

Next up was the NAD. The show person was giving a tour to reporters so I pretended I was one too with my large DSLR camera and such! :D He did a great job on what all they had.
Dunno which of the two guys you are referring to but 2 out of the three pictured guys is Greg Stidsen, ‎NAD's Director, Technology and Product Planning. He should know what he is talking about.

MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE !!!!

Did I make it clear enough? :D

Great feel of the show from your pictures.. next time come with more Pix..
BTW I am on a full "it-has-to-be-horn" mood on speakers and love the JBL colors. Does the 4367 come in those colors?

I didn't think there would be a lot of interest in CEDIA so did not document/take as many pictures. Will do more next year. :)

The 4367 comes in blue only but the enclosure can be black or walnut. I agree those other variations in Everest are quite cool.
