I think the JBL 708 and 705 would be good options for the money. Their form factor is atypical and might work better in the space.

Where are you located? Studio Economik (Montreal) has the 8331A on for CAN$2399 right now (US$1775). They will ship stateside but I’ve no idea if that saves you money, lol.
