Best Guitarists Evah!!!

I am not here to rank, but I would just like to remind people that Prince performed this solo at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a “fuck you” to Rolling Stones for not putting him on the then recently published 100 Greatest Guitarists list (he is now on it):

Richard Thompson
Marc Ribot
Derek Bailey
Dick Gaughan
Oscar Alemán
Mary Halvorson
Robert Fripp
Fred Frith
Nick Drake
Matelo Ferret
Michael Karoli
Gary Davis
David Rawlings
Ali Farka Touré
Eivind Aarset
Maybelle Carter
Ry Cooder
Baden Powell
Charlie Christian
Roy Harper
Rosinha De Valença
Marcel Bianchi
Nic Jones
John Fahey
Luiz Bonfá
David Torn
Martin Carthy

Speaking only -- and broadly -- in the context of "rock & roll", may I, humbly, add/suggest:

Richard Thompson

Patty Larkin

Vicky Genfan

... and, not the best, but still my long time fave (despite the last 25 or so years of his career): Big T

... and, from the same concert, Pete with a "real" guitarist, John Williams. No, not that John Williams! The other one. :)

SIY Why too broad?

To me Stevie Ray is at best an average studio musician who JUST HAPPENS to play some incredibale music.

This type of "disagrement: is (to me anyway) why this hobby a9listening to music) can last a life time.

Having seen him live several times, I'd disagree. He was everything that Clapton is supposed to be but actually isn't. :D
