Audio 'Artifacts' in Phantom of the Opera musical, recording or my ears?

When Ramin's singing 'the power of the music' at the 40:12 mark (Phantom of the Opera streaming free until end of the day), there're some slight audio artifacts. Just curious whether it's a result of the recording, youtube's encoding, or my ears.

I hear it too. It sounds like somebody moving or making noise.

Sounds more like some sort of audio distortion for me.
