I would love to see an Erin or amir review. Especially since I had the lx and didn't love all aspects of it.
Could you elaborate on your experience with the LX?

I second that.. looking to get the LX over these 1 V2's but don't see a lot of reviews
In case you hadn't seen it, 24 page LX thread here on ASR. Agreed though that there do not appear to be formal reviews of this one yet.

I'm going to venture a few educated guesses on the Sierra-1 V2 vs LX vs LS50 (either version) situation.

Just looking at the vertical dispersion graphs LS50 is best, Sierra-1 V2 next and LX third. This should not be surprising as coaxial designs generally have better vertical dispersion and a 5" mid woofer 2-way will be slightly better than a 6" design. Remember, many frequency response problems can be fixed, but dispersion is baked in.

The ascend speakers have about 2db lower sensitivity than the LS50's. However the LX has about 5 dB better power handling. It should be able to play 3 dB louder than the LS50 while the Sierra-1 V2 would be about the same. The LX should be less likely to be damaged if hooked up to a powerful amp.

The LX has a much better measured low frequency performance (extension and distortion) than the other two meaning a lot more people would be satisfied without the complication of a subwoofer.

As compared to KEF, Ascend speakers have a much flatter measured frequency response meaning they would probably be a more satisfying speaker for those who do not want to bother with EQ. While many or most ASR members use EQ, most audiophiles do not use EQ.

The LS50 has an odd cyclops look to it. Either you like it or you don't. Ascend speakers are more conventional in appearance.

I'm going to guess if I went from LS50's (non meta) with EQ and Subs in a room which is at the small end of medium to the LX, the main things I would notice are improved dynamic range, somewhat cleaner mid bass especially because I could lower the crossover from 100 Hz to 70 or 80 Hz, and a different appearance. With either the tweeters are close enough to ear level to mostly negate differences in vertical dispersion. I would also be about $1,600 poorer but could maybe get $500 for my old LS50's.

I believe those are the high points. Maybe I missed something important. If so, let's hear about it. Remember, these are guesses and not claims.
