Applying Pro Audio Speaker Designs To Make a Better Center Channel?

Yes, each one of those in that collection of sources ....is a single source!
yes I still think that a well designed and built multi ways speaker correctly placed can behave almost as a single source
Single full range for sure Also coaxials with the right xover can behave very similar to a single source Panels as well
here in the speakers review there are plots of H and V dispersion vs frequency
Imho a great speaker could be a big coaxial with digital xover and equalization The different sound sources could be at least time aligned even if they are not coincident
These are also interesting speakers

It's not even true though, sounds generated by a single phenomena in nature can absolutely emanate from multiple places and they do.

Dave speaks in simple terms, but don't be fooled. He is actually being very precise in a scientific or engineering way. (He is an aerospace engineer turned audio engineer...)

Through his seemingly simpistic explanations he is begging us to better understand how sound works!

Dave demonstrates this quite effectively on his youtube channel. He responds to people who misunderstand. I'm tempted to mount a defense on his behalf, but if a person wants to understand and grow their understanding, they have access to his videos and can view them at their leisure!

That's great but you've not said anything here. I work in live sound, same stuff as Dave and we've spoken a few times. Unfortunately I see this whole focus on singular sources as being natural a lot and I just don't agree with it, nor do I see much evidence of it in nature.

Hi there is one thing that i read about quality pro audio speakers
Someone told me that they sound unsatisfactory at low SPLs and instead very good at higher SPLs
This should make them usuitable for near and maybe even midfield listening being optimized for generating high SPLs at long distance
True ?

Whatever you do, I'd strongly recommend that all your speakers are equal, or at least have the same frequency and phase response. If not, phantom imaging between any of the channels will not work, and content mixed to more than one speaker at a time will be affected by severe comb filtering (i.e. the same signal spread across all the front channels).

Nobody would even think of setting up a 2-channel system with two different speakers... so why try the same with surround?

Not really true ime. I wager what is more likely here is that PA drivers in general tend to be a bit more rough in their response and turning things up can sort of mask issue by virtue of just being louder, and humans like speakers when they get louder.

Hi thanks a lot I am not a purist So i wonder if eq could cure this inherent roughness
I am more worried about distortion but i guess that their distortion should be minimal ? what i like of PA drivers is that they are built for heavy uses
i like oversizing
