Am debating building boxes for a pair of JBL 127H-1 woofers. Have modeled the response in Box-Port Design II using a 3 ft3 internal box volume, see below.
Box planner in the same software says the optimum box internal dimensions are 28" H x 17.3" W x 10.7" D. A rectangular box of course built from scratch.
It would be much easier for me to just buy a 3 ft3 subwoofer box flatpack from Parts Express and assemble. But, the sub box is a 20" cube basically.
The woofer and externally mounted compression driver/horn will be crossed over at ~1.8k Hz.
How much does speaker box shape affect woofer fidelity? It is worth going to the trouble to custom build a rectangular box instead of using a flatpack 20" cube shaped box?
