Apollon Purifi vs Hypex

Ah I see, it's a 1 April joke ;)
I would have liked... but I'm on vacation anyway, let them save it for when I get back :)

I actually now have both Purifi 400 and Hypex NCx500 amps. I run them both on the highest db setting out of the Denon. Both sound great with Purifi having a bit less power as everyone says. My mains are 86 sensitivity so I'm using the Hypex there, with Purifi for center.
So for beginners like me to understand, you set the Volume level of your AVR to the maximum?
If yes, could that not be a bit risky (to fry your speakers if a settings changes by mistake)?
So you send the signal out of the AVR with maximum power? Does that make sense with such a powerful Amp?
Thanks =)

No. Just use your volume dial as usual. If your AVR has the functionality it can send out a signal to the outboard amplifier via pre outs. And you'll hook up your speakers to that outboard amplifier of course. Your AVR will still control the volume. Edit: oh I see what you're asking. There is a switch on the back of the amps for gain.

Actually I was curious to understand what you mean with „highest db setting out of the Denon“

In poor English, I was alluding to the fact that I am running the Purifi amps via the Denon on the highest gain db setting. If you had very sensitive speakers, you could lower the db gain and get a bit better sound quality, but less power. I'm not sure there's an audible difference between 117db and 121db, etc. I run them on the highest db to have more headroom for movies, peaks in music, etc.

Thanks. Got it =)

Hi all, quick question. I’m looking at two amps from Apollon. The Purifi 1ET7040SA DM Luc Dual Mono Amplifier and the Hypex NCx500 DM Lux Dual Mono Amplifier.

The Purifi is power rating is 250/500/950 watts at 8/4/2 ohms.

The Hypex power rating is 380/700/700 watts at 8/4/2 ohms.

Do people have a preference between these brands at this point? How do you all decide between who to go with. Is one brand proven to have better longevity or QC? Just looking for information to help differentiate between the two brands.

In regards to power the Hypex seems to have more on tap between 4-8 ohms and then runs out of steam but maintains itself at 2 ohms. The Purifi on the other side seems to be doubling down each time impedance is halved with less power being available at 4-8 ohms. Any preference that people have here?
I've got a Hypex NCx500 (from Buckeye). It's amazing. I've heard a lot of high-end gear, and it's flat out amazing. I'm sure the Purifi product is great too
