atoms 4 channels are connected to amp stage of Denon x3800h and the volume is too low compared to rest of speakers.

The speakers are elac 2.0 atoms up firing speakers .

Anyone know what gain does Denom AVR x3800h has by default?.

I am planning to get 8 channel amp like

Different speakers have different sensitivity.
The calibration purpose is to compensate this among all speakers, on top of room EQ.
Did you run it ?

You can also manually adjust the gain for each speaker in the settings to adjust for your preferences.

Atmos speakers shouldn't be particularly prominent. Like surrounds. Bouncy speakers can have issues, too.

To level match for Dirac calibration I am reaching the limit of lowering the volume on subs. Not sure what that does to gain there.

As noted, you can't gain match all the channels at AVR level. Speakers will have different sensitivity and positioning and will end up being calibrated with +/- dB offset during calibration. Are you saying that you can't perform calibration because it shows you maxed offset for Atmos?

If not that you are probably OK, although having large positive offset on some channels (compared to negative on others) could drive 3800H into some distortion for the overdriven channels under extreme circumstances.
