I am runnning a Denon X3800h in 9.1 mode with front L and front R with pre-out (only) with separate amps. I have level matched all speakers and ran Audyssey etc.
Front L = @+9dB Crossover 80Hz
Front R = @+9.5dB Crossover 80Hz
Center = @-3dB
SR = @-1.5dB
SL = @ 0dB
FDR = @ +4.0dB
FDL = @ +4.5dB

I was doing measurements with REW with the AVR @ -22dB volume level. No problems at all.
Then i activated Dynamic EQ @ 0dB (reference level).
When measuring my Front Left or Front Right @ Full Range the Denon goes into protection mode (red light blinking).
When measuring my Front Left or Front Righ @ 80Hz crossover there is nog problem.
When measuring my Front Left or Front Right without DEQ @ -15dB and Full range there is no problem.
When changing the DEQ reference level to 5/10/15 i can turn up the volume a little bit more but cranking it too much it goes into protection mode.
After going in protection mode the speaker lay-out of the fronts jumps back to SPKR+pre-out.

The unit i not running hot.

What is happening here? This receiver should be capable of this right?

Dynamic EQ at 0db is like crossing proton beam streams. "It would be bad."

Not sure but could be your pre-amp section is clipping hard as gain on fronts is significant. Do you really need/want to run LF full range? If so, you might need an amp that will better match your Denon - either higher gain or more W. If just academic, then probably OK, but you will get worse SINAD on 3800H with higher voltage on LR. Look at the 3800H review on this website for details.

That where my thoughts also, clipping somewhere....
I connected the seperate amps with RCA to XLR on two Fosi V3 mono's. But I think through RCA you have a higher gain. If so I could lower the volume of the L+R probably.
XLR: 20dB
RCA: 25 or 32dB

Didn't know it was possible to clip the pre-amp this way.

Not sure how that would work but can try. You can't lower the volume (trims) on LR arbitrarily as it would put them out of balance with the rest of the speakers. So either 80hz crossover or new amp that will have higher gain or more W - which would in turn reduce the trim gain on the AVR.
