Dear Members,

recently I could buy the following speakers/sub for a very good price:

POLK R500 (x2)
POLK R400
POLK R100 (x2)
SVS SB-1000 SUB

Music sounds AMAZING on 2.0 with my current Onkyo TX-NR636.
With Movies and shows I feel like the mid doesn't sound as nice as it could be, it's not full, not loud enough and my conclusion was/is that I might need a stronger receiver.

I was thinking about buying the DENON AVC-X3800H.

But reading a bit about the POLK R400 i run into quite some mentions that this center speaker needs quite a bit of power.

Will the DENON be sufficient for the POLK R400 or do i need to look into something else?

Thanks! <3

The X3800H won't have any issues with that speaker.

Does it have pre-outs? Weren't those notorious for going bad? I would just add an Amp if I could, I have a feeling FR isn't going to be too much affected by the Amp.

If you ever need them, 3800H has pre-amps out. But as noted, this AVR should have no problems driving 5 speakers. It can drive 9 speakers as max, then has 2 more processing channels but you need separate amp to power those for 11 ch experience.

This does not seem very likely to me. It is much more likely to be a speaker or speaker/room issue.

Quite likely, but upgrading to a receiver with proper room correction like the X3800H may help with that as well.
