looks pretty good on chart but do you recommend them to studio work or better looking for sth else like Beyers DT770 PRO and similar? Rn I'm looking for closed studio headphones in kind of $200ish budget and many youtubers and reviewers said good things about them but... not so much about their real sound. They can have great freq response but it's not everything as we know it. Any tips and recommendations are really appreciated. Thank you.
I have owned the Dt 880 Pro , 1990 Pro and 1770 Pro of which i have only kept the 1770 which i am currently also selling.
I tried for years to live with them but cannot become friends with the hyped high mids+highs as i find them very fatiguing.
So for now i am taking a nice long break from Beyerdynamic and decided to try some other stuff.
I just bought the H200 out of curiosity. I like them much much more „out of the box“. However they are not perfect.
1) I find they have too much bass for my taste. Not boomy but but definitely sounds like the person that fine tuned them was a bass fetishist in a way. I love bass
as much as anybody else. I just don`t like it being the main character of the movie.
2) The resolution in the mids and upper mids is not 100% on par with the 1770
3) They feel much cheaper than the beyer`s , which is understandable but they also sit much too tight. I tried to spread them like i did with the Beyerdynamics
but unlike the Beyerdynamic they keep defaulting to the tight side. Also when i wear them i get a "suction“ kind of
discomfort as if the ears are sealed 120% and not only 100% if you get my picture. Like i put a suction cup over my ears. I ordered the „Velvet-y“ Ear pads so i hope this becomes better.
4) They transmit insane levels of mechanical noise in a very uncomfortable way. If you knock on them gently, anywhere, you get ear deafening
mechanical noise transmission as if you would be wearing a tea cup over your ear and knock on it
All in all great earphones but i with the original ear pads i cannot imagine being able to wear them for extended periods of time.
Today the Velvet ones arrive and then i will update my summary
Also since i bought a Qudelix 5K recently i will experiment a bit with them. Unfortunately there is not AutoEq profile for the Adams only for the bigger model SP-5.
I can only recommend investing in a Qudelix. It is amazingly flexible and can drive the Adams to ear bleeding levels easily.
After decades with earphones i have come to the conclusion that Dsp Equalisation is the way to go, at least in my personal opinion.
I need a Set and forget solution and this came in the form of the Qudelix.
I guess you cant have it all but again, these are as luxury problems as they get
