“Sensation of bass notes in ear lobes”

In many previous tests, Amir did a listening test and commented on whether the device created a “sensation of bass notes in ear lobes”. I notice that this seems to be commented upon less frequent now? This quality appears to be a function less of audibility per se then the “concentration” of the sound waves especially at bass frequencies emanating from the driver. What technical measurement would predict whether an item of equipment will or will not create this bass sensation as it does not seem to be related solely to the level? Could it be that whilst differences between equipment may be inaudible, they might be differentiated by the physical sensations and vibrations that might occur in real life use?

Would you say that some source equipment requires less clean power to achieve this effect then others?

No. Purely a function of headphone amp.
