Niles SI-2100 Stereo Amplifier - $220 OBO

Similar to the SI-2150 reviewed by Amir here:

Both amps use Hypex UCD250LP amp modules; the 2150 just has increased output (different power supply maybe?).

Selling this one because I got an SI-2150. ;) Sleek, powerful amp with great features: 5-way binding posts, RCA input and outputs, music-sensing on/off settings and mono bridging.

Stable down to 2.7 ohms, it can handle nearly any speakers effortlessly. 100 watts per channel at 8 ohms, 220 watts at 4 ohms, 400w at 8 ohms bridged. In 7/10 condition, with a few light scuffs on the top (not visible from front).

Buyer pays shipping. It'll be cheap to ship since it only weighs around 12 pounds boxed. Paypal accepted, F/F not required. Lower US 48 only.

Hopefully 400w at 8ohm bridged is true to spec - there must be some magic in that buffer stage, Amir's 8ohm power test on the 2150 looks wonky. Hypex spec on the UcD250LP is only 180w 8ohm with 64V of power and are single channel modules. Niles makes their own PS so I'm really curious about V and the bridging scheme in the buffer board.

Irregardless, it should be perfectly adequate for my big sub and replace the noisy fan cooled Crown. We'll see if it keeps running cool and doesn't go into protection for my occasional needs for thump. The desire for silence and at a $200? No brainer to try.

KxDx has already sent me tracking info. Report back later!

Make sure that sub is really 8 ohms, I killed a Niles 2100 running it bridged with a 4 ohm sub, which was likely dipping into lower ohms. Had I not stupidly bridged the Niles, it would have very well lived. The Outlaw 2200 that replaced it with is happy running the 4ohm sub now.

Just a note that @KxDx is a good seller. Well packed box (actually his 2150 box) with all the stuff and a really heavy duty power cable.

Haven't run it into the system yet so no comments on intended functionality but sounds fine in 2ch test system. Thanks!

Thanks! That's funny about the box.

I'm using the 2150s as mains in both my systems. They are quiet, have gobs power, run cool and lightweight. When I sold my Parasound 2250 and carried it to the guys car, I swore I'd never buy an amp that heavy again.
