Seems like pretty basic, just one single sweep for stereo. What program/dsp is that particularly?
Been playing with it the last couple of days using LG V30+ as mic. It kinda works. Below about 400hz it seems to produce reasonable results. Results are very volume dependent though with swings of 10db dependent on test volume mostly below 50hz.
Going into the midrange and treble gives really weird results. It's convinced there's a gigantic peak around 8khz wich simply isn't there.
Have had fun but now gone back to manual PEQ. Be nice if wiim could come out with a dongle mic that connects to the app for correction.
This. I only sweep between 30 and 400Hz in my room, no point going higher. Even that is probably too high as I'm just trying to mitigate the worst room modes (including resonating furniture and floors)I think that result is to be expected , you are above the transition frequency (shröder frequency ) of the room when human hearing and the microphone is not the same thing .
Your brain is able to figure out the direct vs reflected sound of the speaker and can ignore stuff . at higher frequencies we tend to mostly hear the loudspeakers own response
Below the transition, room and speaker are as one and you should EQ to compensate for in room deviations you can measure .
But in general above the transitions frequency you should EQ deviations in the speakers anechoic curve if at all .
Beware of the speakers directivity some speakers don't take EQ very well especially their directivity is not well behaved , then you pretty much have to stay below 300Hz .
Speakers with good directivity tend to take EQ better without sounding strange .
Makers of different EQ applications will have you to believe its possible to correct any speaker in any acoustics![]()
I've asked Wiim to explain how it is supposed to work. There's no change to the functionality of the app since the last update despite it being added to the list of new functions! There is a potential work around (but I've not tried it), you can change the output settings from Stereo to L, R or mono; so you could run an RC sweep using l only, repeat for R only and then use the values and enter manually within the RC EQ settings. Personally it's too much faff given how much variation there is anyway in making a stereo correction, in my room anyway.Per channel EQ available with today's update.
Edit : just checked , not working with room correction yet. Hopfully soon.
Latest update got auto correction for both channels separately. So if there is no separate correction/implenatation for R and L could a subwoofer be Room corrected when connected to speaker out?
So then it wouldnt be able to handle a single sub on high level/speaker out?Latest update got auto correction for both channels separately.
Don't see any reason why not.So then it wouldnt be able to handle a single sub on high level/speaker out?
Just tried it myself on Windows 10/11 - simply useless.Wiim owners- is anyone running Wiim Home app on Windows 10/11?
How does room correction look on windows app? Does it support external usb mic with calibration file?
