Well, yeah. Why should a subpar driver and a subpar bass shaker combine to be magic?

Unless you upgrade to the 1236....[/QUOTE]

That's the point. It adds impact to something that can't even play deep, which doesn't help.

The Genelec 8260 has superior diffraction control, accuracy, dispersion, and probably soundstsage.

The 1236 simply goes loud, though yeah, it looks like it can push out even more bass. I'm happy right now getting down to about 18hz flat.

The 1236 is not only much louder but has much higher and earlier directivity so is far superior for higher listening distances, also the 18 Hz point isn't really an advantage as such low bass leads in most rooms just to a peak there which you anyway have to EQ back to flat:

There is a reason why also main monitors are offered, not only by Genelec.

AKG K712 Pro, AKG K7xx(Yes they sound different!) DT 770's

Thinking how a headphone can be neutral with recessed sub-bass?

Always wondered that?

Now the $10,000 question, which do you prefer?
AKG K712 Pro's easily as soon as i put them on i noticed a slightly bigger sound stage and more clear mid-bass. I had to like triple check cause i thought i was crazy but then i looked at the frequency response and yeah the K7XX have a good 5db of increased "bass" vs the 701's where the 712's really do only have 3db as advertised.

Not to mention even if i barely moved my head the K7XX would creak and pop all the time drove me crazy lol

Audio Technica ATH-ES10
Oppo PM-3
Roland RH-200 (came with an old Roland edrum kit)

I listen mostly to DSF files through my LG V30S smartphone and prefer the AT phones for sound and the OPPO's for comfort. I still use the Rolands for edrum monitoring for which they are surprisingly good.

I have a pair of Grado RS2e and a pair of Klipsch HP 3. I like the Grado but the Klipsch are much better. Totally different phones , different price range but the Klipsch is well worth the $850 I paid for them.

Just hd600 and hd598. Wanna at some point get a headphone that digs really deep bass. Im leaning towards HD650 or massdrop HD6XX.

Just curious ...
What headphone(s) do you currently own ?
Which one(s) is(are) used the most, or is your favorite ?

I currently own: Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm, Hifiman HE4XX, Grado SR80e, Klipsch Image One, Koss Porta Pro, Koss Kph30i
My most used and favourites: Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm (for home/office listening - paired with iFi Zen Dac), and Koss Porta Pro (for travelling).

I'm increasingly coming to the conclusion that I just don't like headphones. Too bad I've wasted so much time and money coming to this conclusion ...

That said, my current collection, such as it is:

Focal Elex (only use this late at night, and when I'm in my home office)
Grado SR225 (I've had this for 20 years and it's still just as awful, and just as awesome, now as it was in 1999!)
Shure SE535
Sony WH-1000XM3 (by far the most used - great for travel, sounds good-ish especially when EQed to the Harman OE target)

Pair of klipsch 3 going on amazon UK warehouse deals now, just under £1000. It will go but if it gets to less than £900 I'm having
