First I remember hearing him was the First Edition organization. Mid to late '60s. Had a Top 40 psychedelic hit (Just Dropped In). Given the limitations of psychedelic rock 'n roll, he made the correct transition to C&W.

Thanks for that! I thought it was Kenny Rogers & The First Edition but wasn't sure. All the bios I saw(read) didn't mention that, so thought I might have been mistaken
