Hi everyone,

I've been wondering about this idea I had for a pretty great bang for buck surround system, if the approach is at all viable.
So I was thinking to purchase a single 8320A monitor and multiple 8010As, then calibrating the single 8320A in every position (L,C,R,Ls,Rs, etc.) and applying the resulting EQ and time adjustments to the 8010As through my DAW (Logic Pro X). This would obviously only work on the assumption that both speakers' frequency response is very similar, which afaik is the case, except that the 8010 has a bump before the bass roll off, which also happens earlier than on the 8020.

Is there any reason why this should not yield almost identical results to a surround setup consisting solely of 8320s?

the 8010 goes for half the price of the 8320, so that would mean some pretty seriously improved value for money. The higher SPL and lower bass extension of the 8320 is irrelevant to me, as I'd be leaving bass duties to my 8341As and I don't need to play super loud.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this idea, cause from where I'm standing it seems like kind of a great idea, but maybe I'm missing something important.
I added Amir's FR results underneath, I'm not too adept at interpreting this kind of data, so maybe someone can point out relevant discrepancies that I'm not seeing, if there are any.

Cheers guys, hope you're having a good one.
