These are the only TV shows I ever watched from the beginning to the end w/o giving up after 3 episodes:

The Sopranos, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Prison Beak, Quantum Leap, All in the family, and Alf.

Only one season but found Dr Death pretty interesting and based upon true story.

Beforeigners. I thought the premise sounded stupid but... we watched and got hooked.

Veep. The most realistic show about politics ever made.

Others have mentioned The Wire and Breaking Bad, which I'll second.

Oz. Came on HBO a looong time ago and was groundbreaking for its gritty depiction of prison life.

I like Suits a lot. I feel like in a long time, that I actually care for the characters, and the drama and dialog, is not too much of an unnecessary mess.
And Louis Litt is really special in both being funny and crazy, but still strangely likeable.

Also, Season 3 of Succession is coming up. Highly, highly recommend the show as well. Season 2 is one of the finest I have ever watched. We started this as soon as we finished VEEP (which is as good as was mentioned) and couldn't believe that the humor and acerbic wit in it, while different, compares to the latter. Jeremy Strong is absolutely brilliant.
