Hi,

I’m using the D10s DAC to play Spotify on my iPhone X, together with the Apple CCK cable and an external USB power supply.

The displays only shows 44.1KHz whichever song I choose. I’ve changed the audio quality in Spotify settings to very high and I have a solid WiFi connection. Why is the sample rate only 44.1?

Thanks,
Rolf

I don’t have much experience with Spotify, but what is it supposed to output?

I’ve got an iPhone 11, and I know mine can output 192 as verified by my DAC.

I believe there’s a setting in the iPhone to allow a Higher quality. Give me a minute I’m going to look at mine.

Settings>music>audio quality

Then you can go in and set your settings for Wi-Fi, or cellular. I know I had to do that to pass Amazon HD.

That was my next thought, I didn’t think Spotify did anything above that. Anyway my post above shows how you can get high-res out of the iPhone… with the proper music service.

I went with Amazon HD because I’m a prime customer, less than 80 bucks for the whole year how could you go wrong. Maxes out at 192, even if my ears can’t hear any better than 44.1 maybe my dog can lol

Where are you located? Spotify in the US has a "high" bitrate of 320Kbps, which is equal to what Google Play Music does, and is an MP3-based lossy bit stream. I can't find a reference to Spotify "very high" streaming. Even lossless 16/44.1 would be a technical improvement, though oftentimes not an audible one. If you want losses hi-res streaming in the US, I recommend Amazon Music Unlimited or Apple Music for the biggest catalogs.

I just checked it out, and looks like 320 is it in the US. I know there’s rumors of them going Hi-Rez, but I didn’t hear about them deploying it yet.

Thanks, I was thinking the higher samplerate results in better anti-alias filtering and less noise.

I might be confused as well with the bitrate as I’m not known with the DAC. Is there a way to show the bitrate on this DAC?

The Netherlands. I’m not known with the DAC and I have no idea how to display it. It might be that’s it’s good anyway.

It should display it right on the screen, and should be that way without changing any setting.

Topping D10s

As far as I know it should display it right on the screen all the time, as long as you have your source plugged into it.

Maybe you can send a pic of the display?

You don’t have a setting for audio quality while on Wi-Fi?

This is what my iPhone 11 max shows;

It’s displaying the bitrate correctly, you would just need a different streaming service or file with a higher bit rate to get the most out of it, but honestly 44.1 is fine.
