With utterly low expectations after I read all the ASR criticism, I finally watched The Resurrections last night…
To my surprise, I rather enjoyed the movie — Unlike parts 2 and 3, it carried the vibe of the original movie to me! Yes, it’s definitely not “the greatest movie of all times”. And for many good reasons (being made 22 years later) it is not just 'a next episode' of The [original] Matrix. Yet again, it did manage to immerse me in the original Matrix atmosphere, the spirit. I did not feel bored at all — followed the plot all the way through, enjoyed/was intrigued by multiple fresh faces (playing both new and familiar characters), found the old-movie references nice, and (despite what many say) enjoyed Keanu’s acting. His this Neo - tired, needing therapy, yet ‘still knowing king-fu‘ - was rather believable and appealing to me…
Solid 7.5/10.
