The Matrix 4 ruled, probably the best you could ever expect from a Matrix revisit.
Yeah I didn't mind it actually, just streamed it last night... slow start, but otherwise was ok, not greath though. Plenty of hidden messages in there and about all they could do with the franchise at this point.

Not really, all these actually had decent plans to prove them and eventually technology caught up so the proofs could be found.

Where do you get that notion from? Currently we don’t know how to prove string theory.. hell, there still isn’t even one theory really.

But it surely does make for some interesting TV shows… better than the last Matrix.

My point is the imagination an skills thats needed to prove/support string theory just like LHD, Fermi-lab, x-ray telesoops like Chandra, JWT are trying to do. I don't think they spend billions if they don't have atleast something like a theory or atleast a hypothese. Mabey we need some Voodoo more to come up with solid theories/evidence atleast above will help.;)

But as you already suggest shall we get back to the Matrix now? Imo the Matrix 4 still sucks.

The mixed reviews is probably a Many Saints of Newark situation where people went into it expecting something completely different than what they got.
I will agree that anyone who went in expecting (or even just hoping for) it to be good, got something different.

With utterly low expectations after I read all the ASR criticism, I finally watched The Resurrections last night…

To my surprise, I rather enjoyed the movie — Unlike parts 2 and 3, it carried the vibe of the original movie to me! Yes, it’s definitely not “the greatest movie of all times”. And for many good reasons (being made 22 years later) it is not just 'a next episode' of The [original] Matrix. Yet again, it did manage to immerse me in the original Matrix atmosphere, the spirit. I did not feel bored at all — followed the plot all the way through, enjoyed/was intrigued by multiple fresh faces (playing both new and familiar characters), found the old-movie references nice, and (despite what many say) enjoyed Keanu’s acting. His this Neo - tired, needing therapy, yet ‘still knowing king-fu‘ - was rather believable and appealing to me…

Solid 7.5/10. :)

I'll watch it when it "comes around".

Same with Bladerunner 2049.

A far superior movie to the new Matrix entry.

I like Daniel Craig's hard-nosed Bond, so No Time to Die on the list too.

Another in the string of Bond meh that followed the excellent Casino Royale reboot. (A good parallel here to the Matrix series.)

the movie provides that explanation, itself, in the movie

they literally say, verbatim, "Warner Brothers is demanding a sequel. They'll make it with or without us. They'll kill our contract if we don't."

it is absolutely stunning to me how many people completely missed everything the movie was trying to say

If you read my post you know I 'got' that meta stuff.

It's just that they still felt the need to spin out an often tedious sequel narrative on top of it...at unnecessary length.

What stuns me is the David 'Cloud Atlas' Mitchell is credited as co-writer.

Tired of hearing this garbage. Assuming people must have missed the message of the movie, in order to say we don't understand it and is the reason we are criticising it is complete nonsense.

I got the message, it doesn't give the movie nor it's creators a pass or a good grading score. The message is trash and the delivery of the message is trash.

"It is meant to be bad and is telling us so, so it does it's job and is therefore good" is incredibly stupid. Incredibly.

He's not saying it is meant to be 'bad'.

Worst movie I have ever seen.

0/10

I can only wonder what other movies you've seen.

Matrix :R is not great but it's far from the worst movie I've ever seen.

I know I'm likely in the minority, but I thought the Wachowskis' adaptation of Cloud Atlas was excellent and improved on the book in some ways. It was a little too ambitious to be commercially successful, but filming that book was always going to be difficult. I'd like to see them adapt more of Mitchell's books.

A far superior movie to the new Matrix entry.

Agreed, the first third of Bladerunner 2049 is almost perfect cinema. It slows down a little toward the end, but it's definitely worth watching.

I got 20 minutes in and gave up, wasn't grabbing me at all.

Been meaning to give it another go but now you told me it gets even slower I'm not sure I will!

Although I thought they ruined the original when they took the voice-over off it. So I'm maybe not a proper Bladerunner fan.

I very much enjoyed the Bladerunner 2049 Bluray, and it's Atmos soundtrack is kick-ass. ;)
Not sure why some here didn't like it?
Blu-Ray.com gave the soundtrack a 5.0 rating, fairly unusual there.
Also the video rated 4.5
And the movie itself also rated 4.5 and was quite popular with the video crowd there.

It could be argued that the most horrible movies create their own amusing merit.

I offer as evidence the intentionally bad-acted “Return of the Living Dead”. It’s horrible yet I have watched it several times.

“If you really loved me, you would let me eat your brains!”
Also, "Sharknado":

I enjoyed the first Matrix movie when it came out, even though the underlying premise is a bit daft.

The subsequent movies have all been so poor that I can't really remember much about them, even this latest one, which I only saw a week or so ago.

While not the equal of the original - which is in my top 5 movies list - I think BR 2049 was outstanding. Good ties to the original where it mattered, its own story. My only quibble was the "bad guy" of the film (being deliberately vague for no spoilers) - I thought his whole character/affect/purpose was not quite as sharp as it could have been. But it got the job done. Give it another try - there's a lot to like.

I am kind of gritting my teeth over the new Matrix, may wait until it's streaming to view. Have seen a lot of movies the last two months, there was suddenly so much good stuff coming out after that long dearth. What I've read about the plot, I kind of despise, but I will give it a hearing.

Cloud Atlas not that good.
I've never seen it, rare I miss a SciFi? They make up 75% or more of the movies I view.
Surprised you didn't like it, Hanks is usually a standout.
I'll check it out soon.

My kids plus partners thought cloud atlas very good. I'm not sure on the grounds I failed to follow much of it. I think it needs a second (and possibly a third) viewing. So far I've not found the time.

The problem is not Hanks or any of the actors. It is the plodding over-wrought plot.
