Just putting this out here to see what interest there might be. I've hosted a couple of these recently, and they've been really fun. Last get together I smoked a brisket, and the time before that we did a crawfish boil. If you've never done a blind shootout before, it's a great learning experience, and all in good fun; we never take things super seriously, and it's fun to find out where your preferences fall when it's just your ears that are hearing :). Almost everyone leaves with one or two surprises.

I'm mainly interested in loudspeaker preference testing, but if there's enough interest in other parts of the chain, I'd wouldn't object, though we might want to try an ABX test(which I've never done, and might be harder to facilitate) first.

Right now I'm using an ABX comparator device from Audio by Van Alstine(which is sadly no longer in production), which is limited to testing 3 speakers at a time. That said, I'm super open to suggestions, help, better equipment, etc. if there's a better way to do things. My method certainly has its flaws, the biggest one being that the 3 speakers are sitting right next to each other and acoustically interacting with the others that aren't playing.

Anyways, if you live in Texas and would be interested in just joining, or even bringing some speakers of your own, reach out to me at [email protected]. If you do want to bring speakers, just let me know via email, and don't post it here.
