Then there needs to be a second poll asking people how to pay for the $70k.
I'm afraid $70k won't be enough.

You'd have to start paying someone to continue electronic testing, in order to keep existing traffic too.
And maybe still another one to help keeping pace with speaker testing, which will probably prove to be much more time consuming.

Just put an A-d-S-e-n-s-e ad at the very bottom of every page.

Those in the know will click through now and then.

I created a cheesy Forex site to experiment with .

If I remember correctly it made $550 one month, basically from one person that did a lot of clicking. Some of the ad clicks paid like $2 each.

I figured I'd get nailed eventually, and didn't like maintaining the pages, and shut it down.

Just ship the AP to @Thomas savage and let him do the electronics reviews.

At this moment there are 65 members online and 424 guests. :O

And multiple 'at the moments' occur over a day.

We need input from an internet savvy advertising person.

Or the number that will just leave because of "no, please, not still another add-based site, with cookies spying you and so on...."
I could exclude members from advertising.

Members don't get ads, or members who contribute like thru patreon or otherwise don't see ads.

But that takes away the fun of clicking ads from companies you don't like to transfer some of their funds to a good cause here.

(assuming I were to be a qualified member, of course)

Magic Dots - click
'spensive cables - click
Tube Dacs - click

You get the idea.

electronic measurements occurs in my lab which is a loft overlooking our living room. I can spend many hours on it without feeling like I am disengaging from family life.
Electronic measurement produces little noise.
Loudspeaker measurement is very different on that topic.
How would your family react, if you test loudspeakers inside the house?
I know mine wouldn't like it a lot...

I wouldn't. You'll get more money if you don't, and those who are fans will not care about a couple of ads.

Best is to propose users a choice.
Or even several choices.

Ideally with a measurement versus a target:
how much did I contribute personnaly?
Then, how much do I want to contribute?
And how? A few ads will be worth x, more will be y, or a monthly payment of z or...

I think the speaker measuring is the right direction. This is the field of most lacking of data. I could only think of one thing which would maybe even more useful, accoring to Peter Aczel: if you could measure our rooms... :)

In case of ads, I would suggest you to make the ads visually parted. I mean on some sites I cannot distinguish the ads from the actual content (and I give up on these sites early). So maybe some visual adjustments would be in order...

I would happily click any ads to ensure this site keeps going.

I bet you could sell a fair bit of promotional products... T-shirts, hats, mugs...

Something for everyone!

James at Audioholics has the best manual system to approximate the CEA-2034A/Harman system. If you are that anxious for data, follow his work.

Do you have any opinion about the speaker measurements data presented on this site:

https://www.soundstagenetwork.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=16&Itemid=140

Are the guys behind this site competent/trustworthy? They've measured quite a number of loudspeakers in an anechoic chamber, ostensibly with the cooperation of Canada's National Research Council. Their graphs seem almost identical to the ones done by Audioholics for the same models (ex: B&W 603, Revel Performa3 M126Be), with the extra benefit of measuring speaker performance below 200 Hz as well.

Open the link and click on Measurements for other test categories.

I wonder how they finance it? Ads. for one, it seems - by mfrs of tested product, too.

I have no issue with ads, I only care whether they're professional in their measurements.

Given their consistency and use CNRC, do you have reason to be suspicious?

They're generally regarded as one of the bright spots and frequently cited on ASR.

That being said, it could be improved upon, sure. Polar graphs would be nice, for instance.
