Doing some testing with REW and my SVS sb1000 pro peq settings. Below is a comparisment between 2 sets (new and test) where I was in love with 'new'' but since I did a new measurement and came up with a very different peq setting.

'new'' (orange in the upper, purple in the lower) graph) is pulling down 27 and 58 hz (-5.9 and -8.4 on 4.9 and 4.8q) and pushing up that huge dip between 44 and 58hz (+5, 3.5q).

'test' (green in upper, blue in lower graph) is doing less pulling down in 44 and 58 (-1 and -6.3 on 10 and 7 q)and pushes 49 (+4 on 6.1q).

That dip between 44 and 59 is probably the room. I tried moving the sub but it diesnt make much difference.

On the ear the 'test' peq settings, sounds the best. Looks a bit flatter in the graph between 20 and 35 too.

The first graph is low pass filter on 75 and the 2nd on 60hz through minidsp ddrc24. The 60 setting sounds the best for anything not electronic beats. The 75 gives better low but I have to lower the svs gain a little to stop getting dominant vs the main speakers.

I have neat Acoustic Sx2 towers and plugged the down firing port but to be honest I dont hear much of a difference so I took out the plugs. In REW you see of course a but more muted low but its very little.

What do you guys think? Should I play more with placement and roomtreatment to get the dip fixed? Any peq comments/advice? Thank you.

Don't try to fill in nulls using EQ. All you're doing is increasing distortion and decreasing headroom.

Nulls should be tackled using placement, room treatment, multiple subs, or fancy tech like Dirac ART, Trinnov Waveforming, or a double bass array (ideally some combination of the above).

Peaks OTOH can safely and effectively be handled by EQ.

For subwoofer placement, check out the Room Simulator built into Room EQ Wizard.
