I am the fortunate owner of a pair of Philharmonic Audio HTs and the matching HT center.
What are appropriate/well matched 5.1 in-ceiling surround speakers? I'd like to spend less than $1k for the pair.
The system is in a small room 14x14 with a Denon x4800h, Rythmik F12 and tons of windows. I will be using Audyssey/Dirac eventually.
On wall speakers are not possible but I have the cut out and lines for an 8" in ceiling speaker. The surrounds are above and on either side of the couch listening position.
Revel and Kef are my starting points. KEF has no adjustability for tweeter direction in any of it's models which I think is a major disadvantage for this small space. I could be wrong about that.
Revel 583 would probably be ideal because it has the directional tweeter and is $500 each but the more expensive revel 783 reviewed poorly here with that funky crossover. I absolutely am not modifying the crossover myself.
The only difference from the 583 according to specifications is that it has the 'near wall base adjustment' feature and it also is rated 25w higher RMS which I don't need.
Any other thoughts?
