Hello everyone!

After many sacrifices and weeks, read the information on this forum. managed to retrieve a Topping dx3 pro and the DT990 Pro.
The purchase was made to be able to hear uncompromising music and play while hearing an audio as realistic as possible.
I connected the headphones to the topping and the latter to the pc via usb, I have the latest topping drivers installed.
After this short intro, I'm trying the setup with the windows volume at 100% and the topping volume at -0.0db, I can hear an adequately high volume with the gain at +9.0, without the gain it seems to me that the audio is bass.

Am I doing something wrong? Seeing around I see people with -20db not complaining.

Many thanks in advance!

I also add that these are my first experiences with dac / amp and studio headphones, I come from hyperx cloud 2.
Paradoxically I felt louder with the headphones I had before.

try different source material - different songs, maybe they are recorded quiet.
also set volume normalization per track in your player.

Thanks for the reply. Even on youtube, spotify or while playing the volume is low. For example when I had the hyperx cloud 2 in game I had the volume at 30% now with the new setup I have the volume at 60% and the volume is still low.

Windows has multiple volume levels; a master one and per-device ones. Are they all on full volume? Do you have any other headphones you can try it with?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I checked the windows mix volume and it's all on max. I'll tell you more, I tried to connect the headphones directly to the PC and the volume difference is small

Maybe take a piece of music (eg .flac or .mp3 file) and use Audacity to check it's loud (or normalize it) in case you're playing "quiet" files. The headphones are 250ohms; not sure how sensitive they are but that's getting on for fairly high.

I also think they should sound high. How could I solve? is it a problem of the topping dx3?

Did you solved it? I want to buy a dac/amp for 990 pro around 200euros but don't know what to buy

In the end I made the return of the topping dx3 because in my opinion it didn't sound like it should. I bought the fiio k5pro and I am fine
Oh k, maybe i'll try it, since theres nothing to try apart the topping nx4, it costs 210 from amazon.it, do you know maybe other dac/amps or combos that i could try with the 990s?

Let's say that the candidates for the combo are the topping dx3 or the fiio k5pro, for separate dac / amp I abstain from the discussion because unfortunately I am not informed
