Hello,
I will admit that I like to try new things. I'm primarily a Home theater person and also appreciate 2 channel listening.
I've owned a pair of M&K S150p powered monitors back in the day so I like the idea of powered monitors.
I would like some advice from people that know the Genelec line pretty well including some of their legacy monitors for mid to farfield listening for a hometheater or 2 channel setup I'm considering. My listening distance would be about 13', living room size is roughly 17X16 which opens up into a kitchen area and extends out another 15' to the rear patio door.
I'm thinking of buying a used pair or perhaps a trio of a Genelec monitors with good dispersion and are considered mid to farfield. These would not be sitting on desks.
Thinking of buying used because they are so expensive new. There are so many models that it can feel overwhelming trying to make a choice and I don't want to spend money and make the wrong choice. I also have an opportunity to purchase 2 lightly used 7017A subs for $2200.00. This is a sort of time sensitive offer so please let me know if this is a god deal. I'm a lover of deep bass and can't image that these double 12" subs wouldn't deliver the goods. So the Monitors I have been reading about have been the 8330A, 8320A. What's the least expensive monitor that I can buy used that will fit the bill of being very dynamic and accommodate mid to far field listening. Room correction for me in my Hometheater setting would be theater processor with Dirac or a Lyngdorf both of which I have. Also if anyone knows of a reputable place that I can buy Genelecs besides Reverb and Ebay please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I assume you mean the 7071A subs, the smallest used recommended by Genelec to pair with 2 of those are 1037B. Download and read their system specifications and data sheets. New the 1237a.

Thank your for the response. Initially I was thinking about using them in my dedicated theater space. The monitors actually became an afterthought. Are the 7071A subs still considered a good sub? and is it a good buy at $2200.00?

Actually that price looks like one of those to good to be true deals. The smaller 7070a with single 12" in good condition can sell for $1500.

Yes it is one of those type of deals. I actually bought 2 large brand new 18" subs from him last week. He originally wanted to sell me those as well but Initially declined. The price was actually higher then and since then the price has dropped to $2200 when I spoke to him last week. There may be a few scratches here and there but he says that they are lightly used. A studio attempt that went in a different direction. The weight of each is another story entirely at 178 lbs each

Most Genelec subs are pretty large and utilitarian looking but those are massive! You have the space for them? (~32” x 30” x 20”)

Honestly I'm no strange to audio gear that can sometimes double as furniture. That subwoofer in the picture is a JTR 4000 ULF with double 18" drivers, 265 lls and an outside ground plane measurement of 10hz. This is behind the seats in my theater. Obviously not running full tilt. The subs in front of my screen are 21" DIY that someone made for me. The Genelecs could possibly replace those. I just need to know if these Genelecs are worth the hassle. I like deep bass that sounds good and can have some slam if tuned right. I just don't know how they sound.
