Hello,
I will admit that I like to try new things. I'm primarily a Home theater person and also appreciate 2 channel listening.
I've owned a pair of M&K S150p powered monitors back in the day so I like the idea of powered monitors.
I would like some advice from people that know the Genelec line pretty well including some of their legacy monitors for mid to farfield listening for a hometheater or 2 channel setup I'm considering. My listening distance would be about 13', living room size is roughly 17X16 which opens up into a kitchen area and extends out another 15' to the rear patio door.
I'm thinking of buying a used pair or perhaps a trio of a Genelec monitors with good dispersion and are considered mid to farfield. These would not be sitting on desks.
Thinking of buying used because they are so expensive new. There are so many models that it can feel overwhelming trying to make a choice and I don't want to spend money and make the wrong choice. I also have an opportunity to purchase 2 lightly used 7017A subs for $2200.00. This is a sort of time sensitive offer so please let me know if this is a god deal. I'm a lover of deep bass and can't image that these double 12" subs wouldn't deliver the goods. So the Monitors I have been reading about have been the 8330A, 8320A. What's the least expensive monitor that I can buy used that will fit the bill of being very dynamic and accommodate mid to far field listening. Room correction for me in my Hometheater setting would be theater processor with Dirac or a Lyngdorf both of which I have. Also if anyone knows of a reputable place that I can buy Genelecs besides Reverb and Ebay please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Wayne
