Hey all. My current, large room is about 7.93 meters x 3.96 meters. The 3.96-meter side is the front wall, and my kh120iis are projecting down the room's length. Im about 2.2 meters (listening position) from the front wall, my kh120iis being about 1 meter from the front wall. This puts my listening position at about 25% distance from the front wall. It dawned on me today that some of the issues I've been experiencing in sound (my previous small room sounded great) is due to my position in the room, even when using the MA-1. I have the kh750 coming this week, and I want to have a better listening position/overall setup in this large room.

I figure my options are as follows:

A. Currently, I can move closer to the front wall, which would put both my kh120iis and kh750 sub about anywhere from .1m - .8m, and my listening position 1.3m - 2m from the front wall, which would put me at 16% - 25% listening position from front wall. I read somewhere that 25% is a major node in the room, so maybe 16% wouldn't be as bad?

B. I do 38% rule and move further away from the front wall—my speakers 1.8m from the front wall, listening position is about 3m. I lose some of the appeal of having room space, as my setup/listening position would take up the center of the room. If it's going to sound a lot better, I won't hesitate to do this.
also, I've heard that it's actually the 32.8% rule in a room of "longer-length", however, I don't know if my room qualifies:

If anyone can help me calculate optimal listening positions/nodes in the dimensions of my room, or point me to simple software that can do so, that'd be great.

I know some of these questions sound ignorant, and I’ve been advised to just experiment and see what works best. However, I’ve just recovered from a back injury, and while I wouldn’t usually mind trying the different setups, it will take a lot of time and effort moving the table and the speakers, as well as running the calibration processes.

My best bet is to pick one new position in the room and stick with it. Any advice?

REW is a free download and has a nice room simulator if you want another option
