Interesting modification project.
I think it could serve your purpose, it is a little shorter than the V3, inside the design is clean and with useful space.
I leave you some images.
Regarding the vu-meters, the protective screen is made of polycarbonate and as @restorer-john comments, the glass could be a problem for transport- (I work with tempered glass products and even though it is resistant, accidents sometimes occur)
May work with amp mounted sideways (with the length of the amp. The meter needle housing may intrude. However if the amp module is mounted to the top should be fine.

The speaker relays can go of course at least for some of the posts. If so there should be room for its psu as well at the opposite end.

I can't seem to find it on Amazon. Is there a secret link or something ?
No, seems like shortly after the review the link disappeared. I will mention it to them and see if it can be remedied.

in case you manage to make it work - let's see how much they upcharge due to the positive review ;)

I am a little bit confused here about human rationality too .
Does music sound better with VU-meters?

Everyone here so far seems happy to spend USD 160 + for 2 dancing needles in front of an colored light. How rational or objective is that?
What is the benefit? Besides a feedback on output, which I guess you could have much cheaper.

I’ll light a xmas candle instead (I know i am cheap).

Enjoy and have fun anyway,
Definitely a way more fulfilling experience for me with VU-meters.

By the way, I spent much more on "dancing needles" when I got my TEAC AP-501.

And my very very first amplifier was a Philips RH 520 "Fish Eye"... absolutely gorgeous looks do my eyes... and wonderful memories of discovering "hi-fi" listening while watching the needles dancing... in sync with those of the tape player.

So, in my world, it's absolutely rational.

Thanks both amir and kemmler for the responses. Yeah not caring that specifically about the value/measurements this thing looks great for the price. Without knowing how accurate this actually needed to be it was hard to evaluate or rate this device other than from the selector and looks/quality standpoint. That said, is there a well implemented and accurate/precise VU meter for reference to compare to, or is this outside the actual use case of what a VU meter is for (i.e. it is just eye candy)?
Eye candy. You are new.

Hi! Could anyone please advise a similar device but without a level meter? I just need a reliable speaker switcher with a remote control to compare some gear.
Tried to find something on Amazon, but can't be sure if it doesn't affect signal :(
Different animal.

Looks great but needs a peak indicator with optional hold and be calibrated to the voltages required for measure power up to 500watts.

Meters are to slow to give accurate indications. On a good recordings with 20db dynamics the meters will show 10 watts with 200 watt peaks. An amp can be clipping while the meter shows it's just loafing along.
Don't need meters in 2023 for amp protection. It is for vintage memory for goodness sake.

The measurements support that. Anything that's over 90dB in the SINAD etc category is transparent, pretty much. We just have a lot of people that delude themselves into hearing such minute differences. The problem with people knowing about measurements is that sometimes people think they can really experience the difference. Whether a car makes 0-60 in 6 seconds or 5 seconds... they are darn fast and if you use that potential off every red light, you won't have a driver's license for long anyhow. :) And your first $2k tire upgrade after 4k miles will teach you to not drive like that anyhow. :)
Always my problem with vehicle reviews. In my small town, Amish buggy can keep up with the red light starting line. Looking for truly small truck. Maverick only real option. Towing capacity. Who cares. Are you really going to haul anything in 80,000 Denali with gravel in the bed?

What I really don't understand is how this forum of enlightened objectivists celebrates a device that has absolutely NO OBJECTIVE value. Must be one of those sheep / shepherd things I guess.

Listening to music has no objective value either.
